![]() Copyright held by WillowRaven & Shirley Francis-Salley A month ago, Shirley hired me to illustrate and design her book, Shifty Characters. Of course, editing needed done first (through my editing service), which gave me about a week and a half to come up with the cover concept and design. We both felt it was important to portray a multicultural awareness and equality. Even the series logo and the book's 'characters' show diversity in their 'skin tones'. While applying the colors, I kept singing to myself: ... red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in his sight ... Speaking of the letters that were turned into true 'characters' by adding faces, I had a brainstorm to turn the drawing into an actual font. It was so cool to be able to type the drawing in, then position and color each letter. Very colourful and eye catching. Mon, 27 Jul 2009 10:34:30 Nice job! Clever way to promote diversity. Keep up the good work you are doing. Sun, 02 Aug 2009 15:15:04 I love the Shifty Characters! How clever to turn the letters into faces. I would never have thought of that. That's why I paint pictures with words, not a brush. Comments will be queued for approval before being posted.
