This is Suzy Koch, the author, and most patient person (other than maybe the publisher ... lol) of Being Jacob: First Day of School.

I started this project last fall and am still at it!

It isn't like it is a hard book to illustrate, it's just that life keeps butting into what I want to be doing vs. what I have no choice but to do.

First, I over-booked myself with a back to school sale (not doing one of those too often ... lol), then the recession hit full swing, so I had no choice but to take additional side jobs, then I moved (again due to recession), then  started having health quandaries (not really life threatening, but debilitating all the same).

One excuse after another was given and accepted with amazing grace (I'm sure HE had something to do with that too ... lol).

So I had the idea to take 30 minutes of my time and create a slide/trailer for Suzy, I and Viv, (the publisher). Now, we can have a little something more to remind us all that the book is indeed being worked on, and no I haven't fallen off the face of the earth just yet.

When you think of a gift, think of a book!

Work has gone awry many times on this project, but it is steadily (however slow) coming together. Today I am drawing Jacob hugging Mom. I can't show off more than three pages of illustrations prior to publication, so I will have to settle for another cover shot.

I am hoping work on book two goes faster ... lol ... it takes place at the zoo. I LOVE DRAWING ANIMALS!
