It started at 6am this morning. It's Labor Day, so my baby (almost nine ... lol), was allowed to sleep in, rather than get ready for school at 6:45, when he started the holiday with a really loud barkey-cough.

Oh no, here we go. I had been getting automated phone calls from the school and reports from the church members, that the swine flue outbreak was hitting our area pretty hard, so I immediate jump to panic mode ... lol.

Well, we steamed him a bit by cranking the shower up as he sat in his mini lawn chair flipping through the book I just bought him Saturday (before you spaz, it is a gloss covered board book of his favorite Marvel characters that is designed really cool, it is meant to be flipped in three sections, so as to mix-n-mach the characters' body parts and action as it alters the story line a bit each time -- it would have been a wench to illustrate), and got some meds in him. It broke up and the coughing eased enough for him to come out of the bathroom long enough to park it on Mommy's bed with the PlayStation 2 controller in hand, some SunnyD at his side, and some left over homemade apple pie (I'm a little old school when it comes to my remedies ... lol).

Oh, did I mention the HOMEMADE APPLE PIE? Well, Jarrod and I had our Mommy/Son date-night last night, and rather than make diner, we watched one of our new movies (also bought on Saturday  -- just to make it clear, I have no self control in Waldenbooks or FYE, OK?),  grabbed the gallon of milk, two forks, and dug in ... lol (hense the illustration).

I worked on my Second Chance layout, the website for Super MOMS, did some networking on Facebook and Twitter, drew a 'for me' illustration (the pie), and did some email stuff, stole random kisses on my babies forehead (to check for fever), kept him stocked with food/drink, and kept the neighborhood kids away for the day.

So today's remedy was, sweets and meats. Sugar to keep his energy and metabolism up, and protein to build those cells that he needs to fight this bug off. Now, I'm off for a Mission Impossible Marathon and popcorn with my baby (yeah, I bought all three Saturday, too -- FYE and Waldenbooks are both evil, evil stores).

So today, on this Labor Day 2009, I worked a little, but spend some quality time with my boy. All in all, a great day.

Until next time ...
