Today, Kirk Bjornsgaard, author of Confessions of a Former Rock Queen, passes after a rough battle with cancer. I never had the opportunity to meet Kirk in person, but I did have the honor of designing his book cover.

I first heard of the project months ago, not knowing any thing about his personal struggle. One day, a couple of months ago, Vivian, at 4RV Publishing, popped up on IM informing me that Kirk's book was getting moved up in the release schedule due to his health taking a turn for the worse. Work started on the copy editing and design layout of the book that very day and the cover was conceived.

By burning the midnight oils, we got his book not only in his hands, but he managed to get it in stores, even ill.

I am saddened that it's the only book of his I will ever get to be a part of again. He died at home, surrounded by family, on his 58th birthday.
